The Tribe’s JOM Program is a grant-funded BIA program that is available only in Madison County (Nebraska) to all eligible Native American pre-K-12 students in this area. The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is the primary contractor for the program, and the Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) works with us to implement the grant. The program operates in conjunction with the school’s Title VI Program and addresses the unique cultural needs of the Native American student with a parent committee determining those needs.
Sioux City: Sioux City Title IV Indian Education Program and JOM form (administered by the Santee Sioux Tribe).
What is the purpose of JOM?
To provide supplementary financial assistance to meet the unique and specialized educational needs of Indian children. JOM funds are not to take the place of any other federal, state or local funds.
Types of costs generally covered include parent cost items, activity fees, rental of musical instruments and/or summer school. As funds are limited, awards are often made on a first-come, first-serve basis.
